The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture on the 21st of
June had hosted MOTAC’s Tourism Dialogue Session and launched the Tourism
Recovery Framework (TRF) 2.0. at the Parkroyal Collection Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Haji Shukri, MOTAC’s Minister,
the dialogue has seen the Ministry receiving a memorandum from 15 tourism
association on the issues and challenges they are facing as well as
improvements suggestions. Issues such as financial aids, licensing,
enforcement, promotion, and marketing as well as the labor shortage the
industry is facing.
With the launch of TRF 2.0, the resumption of tourism activities across
the nation, the high vaccination rates as well as the reopening of the
country’s borders, MOTAC have reassess their prior target and are now aiming
for 4.5 million tourist arrivals with tourism revenue totaling to RM11.1
billion by the end of this year. The new target came about after the country
had recently exceeded its initial target of 2 million tourist arrivals. MOTAC
Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said tourism has been signaling a strong
recovery and she was optimistic about the new target.
MAH’s President, Madam Christina Toh, during the dialogue session, had
speak on behalf of the hotel industry about the issues plaguing the sector such
as labor shortage, high electrical tariffs and others.
The events were attended by over 250 people including tourism players
and other relevant industries and agencies. Notable attendees to the event were
YBhg. Datuk Hajah Saraya binti Arbi, MOTAC’s newly appointed Secretary General.
