Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) in collaboration with Lembaga Pembangunan Langkawi
(LADA Langkawi), organized a seminar targeting the hospitality and tourism
industry.
The
seminar was titled “Reskilling/Upskilling Workers: Overcoming the skilled labor
shortage issue in the hospitality industry”. The seminar had discussed the
negative impacts the skilled labor shortage has had on the operations of hotels
in the industry as a whole.
The
session saw JPK sharing their many initiatives to train and certify workers to
become skilled labor while also highlighting to those present, the importance
of recognizing our workers based on their skills in a particular task.
The
half-day seminar took place at the Bayview Hotel, Langkawi, Kedah. It was
officiated by the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, YB Datuk Haji Awang bin
Hashim. Our Hon. Sec. Gen. Dato’ Megat Shahrul Azman Abas represented MAH and gave
an opening speech at the seminar.
About the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH)
Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) is the umbrella body for hotels in Malaysia formed in 1974 and initially established by a group of concerned and dedicated hoteliers to bring about a more dynamic hospitality industry aimed at building a workforce of highly skilled, innovative and disciplined individuals.
