A. WHO CAN BE A MEMBER

Ordinary Members

  1. Hotels with Hotel Licenses under relevant laws;
  2. Representative of hotels, which are under construction and/or pending the obtaining of a Hotel License. Approved member hotels, which fall into this category however do not have voting rights until they commence operations (starting date of receiving room guests).

Associate Members

  1. Any company or corporation directly or indirectly associated with hotel trade. (Associate members shall have no voting rights.)
B. ENTRY

New Member Entry

  1. Application to become member (either Ordinary or Associate) shall be made in writing to the Secretary General of the Association and shall be duly sponsored by a Proposer and Seconder.
  2. The application shall then be forwarded to MAH Board for review and consideration. MAH Board shall have the absolute discretion to accept or reject an application without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
  3. Notice of Approval shall be given to the Applicant within fourteen (14) days. This approval however is subject to payment within fourteen (14) days of the required fees and annual subscription.
C. RESIGNATION/WITHDRAWAL OF MEMBERSHIP
  1. A member shall resign or withdraw its membership by giving one (1) month's notice to the Executive Director.
  2. Resignation shall not release a member from its obligation to the Association until all its dues and outstanding fees are settled and the resignation officially accepted.
D. TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
  1. Any member which fails to pay the dues and/or fees within a period of three (3) months after the same become due may be terminated or suspended from membership as may be decided by the MAH Board.
E. EXPULSION OF MEMBERSHIP
  1. The MAH Board shall have the power to expel any Ordinary/Associate Member from the Association which in their opinion the member has been:
    1. Guilty of conduct detrimental to the interests of members of the Association;
    2. Calculated to bring the trade into disrepute;
    3. Willfully or persistently refused or neglected to comply with the rules of the Association;
    4. Willfully or persistently refused or neglected to comply or abide by any resolution passed at any General Meeting of the Association duly convened, provided that no Ordinary or Associate shall be expelled unless:
      1. First be given an opportunity to appear before MAH Board and represent/justify why it should not be expelled;
      2. Not less than two third of members of the Committee are in favour of his expulsion after hearing such representation.

(Any Ordinary or Associate members expelled shall have the rights to appeal to the General Meeting which decision is final.)

F. GENERAL
Any other matters related to the membership not stated here shall be referred to the Rules of the Association.
G. SUBSCRIPTION / MEMBERSHIP FEES

Ordinary Member

1. Hotel with 50 rooms and below : Min. RM500.00 per year
2. Hotel with 51 - 499 rooms : RM10.00 per room per year
3. Hotel with 500 rooms and above : Max. RM5000.00 per year

New Members

Each new Ordinary Member joining the Association shall pay;

a. Entrance Fee equivalent to  : as rate above (one time fee)
b. Subscription Fee equivalent to  : as rate above (payable yearly)

New Associate Member

Each new Associate Member joining the Association shall pay:

a) Entrance Fee equivalent to : RM5,000.00 (one time fee)
b) Subscription Fee equivalent to : RM1,000.00 (payable yearly)
TOTAL : RM6,000.00

Subscription shall become due and payable in the case of new member within 14 days of the date of notification by the Association.

The subscription is payable in advance on January 1st of every calendar year irrespective of the date of admission. The official calendar year of the Association shall be from January 1st to December 31st .

 

H. HOW TO APPLY?

  1. Membership application form, with relevant column filled up and signed (Click here to download the form).
  2. Copy of license / permits / letter of approval from local authority / government agency.
  3. Hotel brochure (if applicable).
  4. License from Companies Commission of Malaysia (Borang 9).
  5. Other official documents that can proof the hotel will be set up (if the hotel is under construction).
